My First Digital Cameras
As said in my in my “About” section, I have loved cameras since the 1980’s. When digital cameras became widely available for consumers, they were super expensive. I waited and waited until I could actually afford one. Well one year Wal-Mart had a Kodak brand digital point-and-shoot for Black Friday, it was probably 2007 or 2008. It was the Kodak EasyShare Z760 and it came with a docking station. I stood in line with my brother outside of a Northern Virginia Wal-Mart just to get it. He wanted an inexpensive laptop, and of course it was sold out in minutes and he went home empty handed.
I captured tons of memories with that camera, photos that I still look at to this day. Looking back I can see how too many of those photos were extremely warm from incandescent lighting, something that I can easily edit now that I have more experience with photography.
I’m not sure how the Z760 met it’s demise, but I have a feeling I gave it to a sibling when I decided to upgrade to a different point-and-shoot. This time it was another consumer Kodak, the EasyShare
And my final consumer-grade point and shoot was a Fuji FinePix F200EXR. I ordered this in November of 2009 and loved it. I loved the colors that were rendered in the photos and it was much sleeker than the previous cameras Kodak cameras.
A few months after this arrived from Amazon, I was off to Jamaica for the second time. I was there for nine days thanks to the blizzard of 2010, but at some point moisture got into my beloved Fuji and it stopped working. On my limited budget I paid for Fuji to actually repair to camera. Unfortunately less than two years later I left that camera in the suit bag for a rental suit (my brother’s wedding). Of course the people at Men’s Warehouse couldn’t locate the camera even though I called a few days later, shady SOBs. I still miss the F200 EXR and there are a few on eBay. The downside is that they are selling for more than I’m willing to spend.
